Remembering the fallen

Memorial Day is the one day a year when we are asked to remember our military who have fallen in service to our country. We pay respects with flags and parades, spending time with family and loved ones, fully enjoying the freedoms that the sacrifices of those service members have given us. When we remember the fallen, it’s important to also remember those who returned home only to die by suicide due to the immense emotional scars they lived with after service.

I’ve had the immense honour to run in memory of the service members below who chose to end their tremendous suffering. Their stories have stayed with me since I first carried them with me on a run, and I want to remember them today. Please read their stories (click on each picture to learn about that person) and say their names so they are not forgotten on this Memorial Day holiday.
